Our Story

Pub-House-Ale Beer-cans-in-a-heart-shape

The Publican House Brewery came about in 2008 after a late night and a few pints led to a discussion about a shared passion for craft beer. We saw a great opportunity to enter an exciting industry and to create a unique product that we could stand behind.

With a plan, a passion for beer and a love for the Kawarthas, Publican House set out to build upon the tradition of brewing excellence in Peterborough with our own unique brands and flavours, defining the tradition of The Publican House.

Our family-owned brewery has gone through many exciting changes in the time we’ve been in business, but we’ve never lost our passion for creating quality, flavourful and consistently great beer. Our hard work has paid off earning Publican House Brewery the Newcomer Brewery of the Year Award at the 2014 Ontario Brewing Awards along with our flagship brand, Pub House Ale earning a Gold Medal at the 2014 Ontario Brewing Awards and a Bronze Medal at the 2016 Canadian Brewing Awards. In 2017, our Henry’s Irish Ale won Silver at the Ontario Brewing Awards, while our High Noon won Silver and Eight or Better won Gold at the Canadian Brewing Awards.

We’re working hard to share our passion for beer with as many people as we can all the while giving back to our community and the supporters who have helped us along the way.

Our love for quality, local ingredients extends into The Publican House, our Brew Pub nestled in the 170-year-old building that inspired our brands. The Publican House welcomes you to join us in the heart of the Kawarthas where we’ve mastered the craft of brewing with the art of flavour.
