Brand Ambassador/ Retail Sales Associate

Reporting to the Retail Manager, Brand Ambassadors play and integral role of shaping the
Publican House brand. Working in a fast paced, high-energy environment, our Brand
Ambassadors represent and promote the Publican House and its products through customer
service in our on-site Retail Store, at events, and through conducting on-site brewery tours.
This position will require a flexible work schedule for approximately 15-30 hours per week with
variances based on weather, seasonality and needs of the business. Weekend availability
(Friday – Sunday) is mandatory.

Duties & Responsibilities
Retail Store
• Deliver a great experience by engaging with customers in a positive, friendly and
courteous manner; helping customers by listening and answering questions; and by
showing appreciation for their patronage and loyalty.
• Count money in cash drawer at the beginning and end of shift to ensure accuracy.
Reconcile totals at end of shift to point-of-sale system.
• Understand products and services and be able to communicate this information to
customers when asked.
• Process payments by cash, debit and credit and issue receipts, refunds or change to
• Ensure beer fridge is fully stocked at all times.
• Clean & fill growlers
• Answer phone enquiries and direct calls to the appropriate individual.
• Maintain a clean and orderly retail space.
• All other duties as required/requested

Events (mainly Farmer’s Markets at this time)
• Organize the items needed for event including tents, tables, beer jockey boxes,
glasses, lighting, signage and ensure all items are clean and in good working condition.
• Transport items to event location and assemble booth in a timely manner.
• Promote Publican House products and services to increase company’s brand
awareness and to generate new sales opportunities.
• Greet and serve event attendees in an outgoing and friendly manner. Understand
products and services and be able to communicate this information to customers when
• Provide photos to social media manager to capture our attendance at each event and
provide a good visual representation of the overall event.
• At event conclusion, dismantle booth, clean jockey-boxes, and pack other event items
in an organized and efficient manner.
• Return items to event locker and ensure the items are clean and organized for use at
the next event.
• Provide a follow-up written assessment for the event to include ticket sales; sales
volumes by beer style; observations, comments and criticisms around all aspects of the
event including weather; location; event organization and its execution.

Tour Guide
• Conduct on-site brewery tours.
• Communicate knowledge of the Craft Beer Industry in various market sectors including
Brew Pub, Retail Store, LCBO, Beer Store and licensee accounts.
• Explain the history of the Publican House Brewery and Pub; its award-winning beers;
styles of beer it produces; alcohol percentages; beer and food pairings.
• Explain the basic brewing techniques from start to finish including: brewing ingredients
(hops, grains, yeast); milling process; cooking process; fermentation process; brewer’s
and assistant brewer’s roles and responsibilities; packaging process for cans, bottles
and growlers; and packager’s role and responsibilities.
• Explain the different uses for spent grains—feed for livestock, ingredient in cooking and

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
• Exceptional customer service skills. Prior serving experience is mandatory.
• A passion for great beer and a strong knowledge of beer, the brewing process and beer
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Outgoing with strong public speaking skills
• Excellent communicator, personable, warm and friendly with a positive attitude
• Smart Serve certification
• At least 18 years of age or older
• Ability to work flexible and occasionally long hours
• Must be available to work primarily evening and weekend shifts
• Formal Beer Training, i.e. Cicerone, Prud’homme, etc. is considered an asset
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Ability to lift/ move up to 100 lbs., able to stand for extended periods of time (8 hours).
