Policies and Procedures During Step 3

of COVID-19 Roadmap to Reopen

The following procedures have been developed based on the recommendations of Peterborough Public Health and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.

Guest Responsibilities

  • Show proof of full vaccination along with identification before being seated if you are 12 years and older (unless medically exempt) and wanting to sit indoors. For guests joining us on the patio or picking up take-out, no proof of vaccination is required. For more information, visit
  • Attest to being free of COVID-19 symptoms upon entering
  • Refrain from visiting us if you are feeling unwell, or have been outside of Canada within the past 14 days
  • Provide contact tracing information including first name, last name, contact information, time in, time out, table number, and server name
  • Maintain a distance of 6 feet/2 meters between guests and staff, from line up to departure
  • Enter the reception area one group at a time, and line up outside with physical distancing from other groups of guests
  • Wear a mask in any area while not seated (see our Face Covering Policy for further details)
  • Sanitize your hands before entering the restroom
  • Wash your hands using proper handwashing etiquette before exiting the restroom
  • Leave tables where they are placed. If you would like to move a table, please speak to one of our staff.
  • Abide by the 2-hour maximum seating time when it is busy
  • Once seated, please only request to move between tables in the case of inclement weather (due to increased sanitation requirements and reduced staffing)

Publican House Responsibilities

Staff will continue to follow all existing food safety practices for cleaning and disinfecting.  An enhanced level of cleaning and disinfecting is being carried out including the following:

  • Tables and chairs will be sanitized between guest visits
  • Menus will be sanitized after each use
  • Restrooms will be sanitized frequently
  • High-touch surface areas, such as handrails and door handles will be sanitized frequently
  • Increased frequency of hand washing/sanitizing
  • Staff will wear face masks and eye protection, as per Peterborough Public Health requirements
